Must Have Project-Based Learning Checklists for Your Class

September 24, 2014
Project Based Learning (PBL) is one of the widely acclaimed instructional approaches in today's teaching pedagogy. The essence of PBL are projects. The purpose is to enhance students learning through engaging them in authentic real world activities and projects. The accomplishments of these projects span a long period of time an can even be interdisciplinary.

Project based learning is absolutely student-centred and the role of teachers is reduced to guidance and monitoring. Students take responsibility of their learning and make all the choices they need to reach the project or research outcome. If you are new to PBL , you might want to check these resources for further assistance.

Today, I want to draw your attention to this interesting website called PBLChecklists. As its name indicate, PBLChecklist provides an array of free checklists to help you design projects for your classroom. You can customize the checklists the way you want and after you are done, you will be prompted to print your checklist using a generated link.

Currently, PBLChecklist offers checklists for science projects, written reports, multimedia projects, and oral presentations. These checklists are organized according to the grade level you teach. To start using a checklist, select the kind of project you want to work on  and click on the grade level you teach and type in your info as explained in this guide. The checklists are also available in Spanish.
